Pillow Debut
Jacob’s Pillow is honored to present two-time Bessie Award-winning choreographer, dancer, and filmmaker Hope Boykin in her highly anticipated Pillow debut, with HopeBoykinDance. A former star of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and an original member of Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Boykin brings a compelling fusion of modern and contemporary movement, spoken word, and storytelling to the stage.
Known for her powerful, deeply expressive choreography, Boykin has created works for The Joyce Theater, 92NY, and The Kennedy Center, where she reimagined Jacqueline Woodson’s The Other Side and directed the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s MASS. A visionary artist and educator, she serves as Artistic Advisor for Dance Education at the Kennedy Center and teaches at Howard University. Her deep history as a 20-year company member of Ailey—and now as a commissioned choreographer for the company—complements the week-long run of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in the Ted Shawn Theatre.
